Manufacturing Industry - Time for another Industrial revolution

Manufacturing Industry has undergone three distinct phases of fundamental shifts leading to higher productivity and overall economic expansion.

First phase, characterized by increased use of steam power led to Industrial revolution and machines started manufacturing more than humans. The next phase was focused on productivity improvements based on fundamental shift in manufacturing such as assembly line process. The manufacturing shifted towards “Process centric” approach from product centric approach. The 3rd phase was characterized by increased use of technology and machine controlled manufacturing leading to faster turnaround, better precision and overall improved quality of products.

We are at the cusp of another shift, where machines will emulate social networks backed by technology to take decisions. The Internet of Things will result in connected systems constantly communicating and driving business decisions. Mind Consulting strive to work with customers to prepare their information network to support future of manufacturing. While the shift will be gradual, the future Manufacturing units with network of machines will be able to take decisions for optimal resource utilization, prevent stock out situations, and maintain lower inventory levels. The supply chain will be governed by applications  socializing (where enterprise applications are connected to outside word) with business partners to order raw material, arrange for logistics, communicate regarding stocks.
